In order to improve the position and inclusion of Roma in the life of the local community, Novi Pazar and Bosilegrad have formed their Mobile Teams for Roma Inclusion as professional bodies of the city and municipal councils. The team in Novi Pazar was formed by the decision of the City Council in early November, while the decision on forming a team in Bosilegrad was made at the end of October 2020. Year.
These expert advisory bodies will work on improvement of inter-sectoral co-operation locally, ensuring better availability of services and easier exercising the rights of Roma. Representatives of the administration, municipal and city councils, the Centre for Social Work, educational institutions, the health centre, local branches of National Employment Service, as well as representatives of the civil sector are involved in the work of mobile teams.
Mobile teams for social inclusion of Roma will, among other things, work on preparing and implementing the local action plan for social inclusion of Roma (LAP), will be tasked with examining the needs and gathering data on the Roma community, informing the Roma population about rights before institutions, launching initiatives for social inclusion of Roma based on identified needs of the Roma community, as well as exchange information relevant for improvement of position of the Roma.
Now that Mobile teams are formed, one of the first tasks is to draft the LAP for social inclusion of Roma. In order for these documents to be adequately prepared, the project will work on raising the capacity of members of both teams in the coming period, through mentoring and various trainings, supporting alongside both teams drafting the plans.
In addition to establishing an institutional and strategic framework for the inclusion of Roma on the local level, the project continues to co-operate with Novi Pazar and Bosilegrad on preparation of technical documentation for communal infrastructure.
